About Me

Md. Rakibul Hasan Tamim

I am a journalist with a diverse reporting portfolio, primarily covering Education, ICT and Telecommunications, with additional reporting across Technology, Public Policy, Environment and Climate, Women and Children, Migration, and broader social issues.

I have a particular interest in investigative, data-driven and accountability journalism, focusing on policies, institutions, public services and the ways in which decisions affect people's lives.

I have been working at Dhaka Post since 2022, where my primary areas of coverage are ICT and Telecommunications, alongside technology, digital policy and other public-interest issues.

In 2023, I received the Meena Media Award for my journalism.

Before joining Dhaka Post, I worked as a Campus Correspondent for Dhaka College at The Daily Campus and Odhikar.news, covering campus affairs, education and issues affecting students and young people.

I also worked as a temporary reporter for Dainik Samoyer Alo, where I covered the Dhaka International Trade Fair in 2018 and the Ekushey Book Fair in 2023.

My journalism has developed across multiple beats and formats, from daily news and interviews to exclusive reports, investigations and data-driven stories.

Education

I completed my B.Sc. (Honours) in Zoology from Dhaka College, affiliated with the University of Dhaka, achieving First Class.

I later completed my Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Zoology, specializing in Fisheries, from the same institution, also achieving First Class.

My academic background in Zoology and Fisheries has also informed my interest in environment, biodiversity, wildlife, climate and science-related issues.

My Approach to Journalism

I believe journalism is not simply about reporting what happened. It is also about asking:

• Why did it happen?
• Who is affected?
• What does the evidence show?
• What do the documents reveal?
• Who is responsible?

My reporting combines field reporting, document-based research, data analysis and conversations with relevant stakeholders to develop stories that go beyond the surface.
